About

The 175-foot wide collective mosaic was created by Nayan with the help of the center’s community members and neighboring residents during free daily workshops. The project was part of the 2010 neighborhood improvement program and of a revitalization project implemented by the CCLSCA. The mural depicts both rectilinear and curvilinear forms that conform with and even embellish the original architecture of the center’s façade. The mosaic can be seen as an abstract narrative, flowing from one organic motif to the next. This visual storyline symbolizes strong community values: transition, collaboration, cooperation, transmission and intergenerational interaction.
